Parent over 50 - bad saving habits.. Options

My mother is in her 50s and never seems to have any money. I was curious if any of you knew of any products to help her save better?

Your mother needs safe products, risk should be low. Perhaps global bonds for the short term might bring in a higher return then when interest rates rise look to a high return savings bond.
